Introduction to Replays

This section offers a simple tool for surfing replays in two dimensions and a few tables displaying replays found in the latter half of 2007 and awaiting further consideration and documentation.

The tool following this page may seem confusing at first glance, but a simple explanation will have you off to the races in no time. Go ahead and visit the tool page for a moment and then return to this page if you want ot hear my explanation for how the thing works.

Explanation

The overall page has four regions. The first is at the top of the page and provides controls for navigating the replays. The second region is the scripture quote box in the middle of the screen. The third region is the right sidebar and the forth is the Notes section below the scripture quote box.

Controls

The form at the top of the page provides controls for navigating replays, but the first choice you make is what "layer" you want to surf.

Layers

While placing dots in the latter half of 2007 we began to see that replays seem to "layer" such that any given passage of scripture can have a slow replay going by that places a dot on each chapter, a little faster replay going by that places a dot on each paragraph and even a faster replay wizzing by that places a dot on every verse or so. Admittedly the presence of layers adds complexity to the system, but they cannot be ignored until we can either rule them out or we have some better way to refer to these very real patterns. So just know that's what the "layers" are in the first option of the controls.

Replays

The second choice you make is what replay to surf. The list of replays in the pull-down menu change depending on what layer you have choosen.

Dot/Book

The third pull-down menu in the controls lets you jump to any dot in the current replay. It's labeled Dot/Book.

Prev and Next Controls

There are two buttons in the controls for previous and two for next because you can surf the replays in two dimensions. To help visualize this consider the rows and columns in a table or even go look at a table later in this section as a visual aid.

When studying a table you typically start in the upper left corner and either work down the left side column and then over a column and so on, or you begin with the first row, read across and then return to the left side and read across the second row.

Conceptually you can do the same thing with replays. Reading across the rows is like reading replays in order, dot (1), dot (2), dot (3), etc, until you reach dot (66) and start over on the next row. Reading down the column is like taking the first occurence of dot (1) and then the second occurence of dot (1) and so on until you've read all (1)'s in the Bible. This approach causes you to skip through scripture fairly rapidly, but when it's working you'll find yourself staying on a theme that is fundamentally related to dot (1), or Genesis. After finishing the (1)'s you could read the (2)'s and it would be like reading the next column in the table.

In terms of how the actual previous and next buttons work, if you press the [ Prev Dot ] or [ Next Dot ] buttons you will go from dot (1) to dot (2) and so forth in sequence. If you use the [ Prev Replay ] or [ Next Replay ] buttons you will be advancing through the replays but staying on whatever dot number you are currently on.

Scripture Quote Box

The central part of the page is the scripture quote box in the middle of the screen. It provides the passage in question for the current dot in the current replay. Other dots may also appear in the passage, but you can spot the dot in question based on it's agreeent with the controls at the top of the page.

Right Sidebar

On the right side of the tool page you'll notice a strip of dots and scripture addresses. That sidebar simply lists the locations for all the dots in the current replay. You can click a dot or it's text address to jump to that entry in the replay.

Notes

The notes section is directly under the scripture quote box and displays the dot in question in the title. There's a note saying something to the effect that there are "No notes at this time," because, well, there aren't. The space is reserved for adding explanation in the future. This section may just provide some helpful hints or it may hold a full fledged report for why the dot is in the right place. Eventually there needs to be ample defense for the placement of dots, it's just a question of where and whether this will be the spot.

You'll also notice a yellow "post-it" style box to the right. This provides some extra information that may or may not turn out to be intregral to the replay system. In the book order study at www.biblebookorder.org we learned that once the books of the Bible are correctly ordered using the book of Isaiah, you can translate their titles and you end up with a 12 sentence message that basically summarizes the content of the Bible. These were dubbed "Title Sentences." The question is whether the translated meaning of each book name shows up as a theme in the various Bible passages related to that book. Only way to know is to look and see, so we've incuded the translation of the current book/dot in question on the post-it.

The other thing on the post-it is a Hebrew letter, what it originally pictured when drawn in paleo Hebrew and meanings that are commonly derived from that object. These letters and their meanings relate in rather amazing ways to the books of the Bible and the question we're asking here is whether the meanings of the letters also show up in meaningful ways in the replay system. These post-it items are just a standing question, so if they seem to relate great, if not, don't sweat it.

So that's the grand tour of the replay surfing tool. I hope it helps. As always, if there are questions or feedback don't hesitate to contact us.

Tables

I should also mention, the tables linked in the left menu show off the replays you can access with the tool. They are just another representation of the replays, though without text. You can hover individual dots in the tables to see their scripture address and click them to see their entry on the tool page.

Layers 2 and 3 have replays with dots appearing at chapter intervals. Layer 4 layer has replays with dots that work at paragraph pacing. The Layer 5 replays are verse level and Layer X is experimental. Of course all of this is still at a rather experimental stage. Eventually we'll be able to revisit the current list of replays with more scrutiny and document the good.

Thanks!
